It's been rather quiet in this place since I arrived back on US soil. Rest assured that I am safe and sound, just settling back into the routine (or lack thereof) around here. I've just been taking a moment to breathe after a fairly intense eight months or so, because apparently working long hours on a ship off the coast of West Africa while pregnant isn't the most relaxing lifestyle choice. Who knew?
At the moment, I'm in a weird spot where I'm trying to figure out what this blog is going to look like, not only for the next few months but after that once I'm back on board with Poppy. Am I going to turn into a mommy blogger? Will I have enough to write about while raising a kid in a shoebox, or will I run out of words at some point? Can I tell patient stories when I'm not working on the wards? Who am I going to be and what will I have to say about it? I just don't know.
So please forgive me if I stay quiet for a little longer. As spring rolls into summer and the fireflies dance through the night, I'm breathing deep the love of my family. I'll be back soon with more, but in the meantime, enjoy a couple photos of niece and nephew and family and friends and all the reasons I couldn't be happier to be having a summer baby.
